Schecter is the chair of the political science department at California State University Fresno, where he has written extensively about the nation's other two gubernatorial recall elections. In those two elections, a pattern has held  incumbents have been recalled. So, in Schecter's eyes, Walker should lose to his Democratic challenger, Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett.

Tuesday election, incumbent Gov. Scott Walker (R) has received fundraising support from the Republican Governors Association and campaign boosts from the leading stars of his party: GOP Chairman Reince Priebus, US Rep. and House Budget Committee Chairman Paul Ryan of Wisconsin, Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal, New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, and even supportive words from presumptive presidential nominee Mitt Romney during recent swings through the state, though Mr. Romney did not campaign for Governor Walker specifically.

Wisconsin voters decide on Tuesday whether to throw Governor Scott Walker out of office in a rare recall election forced by opponents of the Republican's controversial effort to curb collective bargaining for most unionized government workers.

The vote is also viewed as a test of strength between organized labor and conservative opponents, both of whom have poured money and effort into the contest.Wisconsin holds its recall vote Tuesday without any campaign appearances by President Obama. He apparently didn't want to risk damaging his brand in a potentially losing effort for Democrats.
